Hello it’s Mike. A few thoughts after our first show of the season. First Congratulations to everyone who performed it was a great night.
I need to mention something that has bothered me for quite a while. I come from NJ where there were two circuits two and three times the size we are. And even with the size of the circuit we supported each other and were friends. When someone needed help getting in and out of the gym, direct competitors would help each other. That is something we are missing here in Colorado. From MS to World we all work hard and have the same goals. One year guard a beats guard b and that’s ok. We are all in this together and we should have each other’s backs.
With that being said, we have a small issue. If you were at the November meeting Canon City asked the circuit if we would support a show at their school. We all responded with a resounding yes. However as of today there are only 17 guards entered and only about three not from Colorado Springs.
It has been brought to my attention that there is a friends and family show being planned for the same evening in Denver. I cannot tell you that isn’t allowed or that you shouldn’t go. But it is taking away from a circuit sanctioned show. I understand that it is the night before Easter. Canon City has graciously allowed the show to be moved so we would end by 7. And have practice facilities available for units traveling. So I encourage more of you to enter and reach out to schedule practice down there.
Yes it far, but in all fairness so are Loveland, Monarch, Legacy, CU Boulder, Prairie View and Horizon all sites we have had shows at and mine and the other Springs units travel to over and over again.
So let’s support each other and get more units entered.
