Color Guard Instructor – Thornton High School Marching Band
The Thornton High School Marching Band is looking for a Color Guard Instructor that can work with the band for the duration of the 2018 season. Here is what we are expecting from this instructor.
Requirements:
· Must be able to attend most rehearsals over the summer
o Thursday June 7 to Saturday June 9 (8:00 am to 4:00 pm)
o Thursday July 12 to Saturday July 14 (8:00 am to 4:00 pm)
o Monday July 30 to Friday August 3 (8:00 am to 4:00 pm)
o Monday August 6 to Friday August 10 (8:00 am to 4:00 pm)
· Must be able to attend most after school rehearsals
o Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday starting August 13 (3:30 pm to 6:00 pm)
o Saturday September 15, October 13, and October 20 (8:00 am to 4:00 pm)
· Must be able to attend performances
o Current List of performances (subject to change)
§ September 8 (Arvada Harvest Festival Parade/Englewood Friendship cup)
§ September 22 (Monarch Marching Festival)
§ September 29 (Legacy Marching Festival)
§ October 6 (Pomona Marching Festival)
§ October 17 (Northern Regional)
§ October 27 (CBA Invitational)
§ November 2 (State Quarter-finals)
Responsibilities:
· Create color guard work for 2018 THS Marching Band Production
· Teach techniques for proper color guard performance
· Assist with drill design and writing for color guard members
· Assist with the design process of flags and uniforms
The Location: All rehearsals are held at 5 Star Stadium at 9351 Washington St in Thornton. Our practice field is just outside the stadium and will be the location of rehearsals Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Monday rehearsals will be held in the stadium. We also use the facilities at Thornton High School periodically across the street to the West.
